The Word of God

The Fourteenth and the Twentieth of Acts both refer to the revealed will of God as the “Word of His grace.” This is no doubt because saving grace is so strongly characteristic of the Biblical message. It is that grace which Paul, at the Second of Titus, said had appeared to all men. As a message as much as a gift of God, that grace teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts in favor of living lives of sobriety, righteousness, and godliness. It appears that man can live no better than he is taught to live by God’s grace. The prophet Jeremiah declared that the way of a man is not in himself, for it is not in a man that walks to direct his own steps. He is left to be but lost who is not directed by a knowledge of the Word of God.
