Daily Lift – May 19th, 2018

For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain (Philippians 1:21).

How great is the number of those who never truly live; how much greater still the number of those who fear death!

Paul was not of either of those numbers, for he saw both his life and his death as states in which Christ might be magnified (Philippians 1:20). Paul’s life was Christ (Colossians 3:4) because he set his “affection on things above, not on things on the earth” (Colossians 3:2); Paul’s physical death would be benign because he had already died (Galatians 2:20).

Are we of the number of those who never truly live or who fear death, or are we numbered with Paul and the rest of the faithful?
