Eternal Life

Though Exodus Twenty-One prescribed the death penalty for a neglectful livestock owner whose animal killed someone, the same statute allowed the defendant to pay a ransom for his life according to the sum laid upon him. Satan claimed at the Second of Job that a man would give all he had to save his own life. However, David pointed out that a man did not always have the price of ransom. At Psalm Forty-Nine, the great king of Israel wrote that even a multitude of riches cannot redeem a soul nor purchase eternal life. The price of such is too precious, and it requires the blood of Divine Sacrifice to obtain it. To man, the wage of his sin is death. The gift of God through Jesus Christ, however, is eternal life.
