But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).
It is easy to say, “I love you” to someone you
love. It is wonderful to hear someone who
loves you say the words “I love you.” Yet, it
is not so easy to say, “I love you” to someone
at enmity with you. It is even harder to
demonstrate love for someone out of favor
with us.
This is what makes God’s love so amazing.
God declared His love for His chosen people
(Jeremiah 31:3), but He also demonstrated
His love by giving His Son to bleed for us
when we were dead in our sins (John 3:16;
Galatians 2:20; Ephesians 2:1-10; 1 John
4:9-10).
