God redeemed the human family with the precious blood of His Son Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:7; 1 Peter 1:18-21).
When a person joins the military he or she is said to belong to Uncle Sam. By the same token, when we obey the gospel of Christ, we belong to the Lord. As the old saying goes, “He owns us lock, stock, and barrel.”
Paul emphasized this point to the saints in Corinth when he declared, “you are not your own. For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Corinthians 6:19b-20).
