The Resurrection and the Life

When Lazarus succumbed to illness at the Eleventh of John’s Gospel, the Savior described his death to the disciples as “sleep.” When we retire for the night, we do so with the fullest expectation of awakening again in the morning. The Lord demonstrated the death of Lazarus to also be but a temporary arrangement, for, upon the command of Christ, Lazarus came forth from the tomb. The agents of Satan would seek to conceal the Savior’s power over death and the grave, for they plotted to have Lazarus killed and later attempted to hinder news of the Lord’s resurrection. Nonetheless, the hour will come in which all that are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth. The word of the Savior cannot be disputed. He is the resurrection and the life.
