I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7).
Confidence – it is sadly lacking even among God’s own people. So many Christians who live and serve as effectively and obediently as they can grope from day to day agonizing over whether eternity will be filled with joy or sorrow. They believe they can not know whether or not they are saved, they can only hope.
Paul’s words to his son in the faith, Timothy, indicate humble confidence. Confident in that there seemed to be no question to him that at death he would experience heaven for all it is worth. Humble in the reality that he did not earn it of his own merit, but rather that he had been blessed by the grace and mercy of God. Fight the good fight, finish the course, keep the faith and that same confidence can be ours.
Because of a internal issue, October 1st – 4th’s emails did not include the audio version. If you were looking wanting to listen to those, here they are.
