…Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams (1 Samuel 15:22).
God had given commands to be followed. They were not followed. Yet, after the battle, they claimed to have performed the will of God. They said they intended to offer the animals which were not destroyed as sacrifices.
They learned, the hard way, of their actions being displeasing to God.
God’s way is different than man’s way (Isaiah 55:8-9). Man may think, reason and decide what he feels is the best thing to do. Tragically, if it is not God’s way – it will not please our Father in heaven. God demands full, complete, humble submission to His commands.
