The words of Balaam ought to be the honest and sincere goal of every Christian.
Too often as men we are more like Balaam than we desire to admit, speaking the words, but when it comes to our actions, we are like Balaam, looking for a way to both please God and man.
Jesus warned of this issue: “No servant can serve two masters…” (Luke 16:13). As we walk through this life, should we not begin every day, look at every decision, and set our goal for every day to be: “I cannot go beyond the word of the LORD my God, to do less or more.”
