The Day of Salvation

It was at the Ninth of Matthew1 s Gospel that the Savior pointed out that His ability to heal the infirm was indicative of His ability to forgive sins. Two years later, it is at the Thirteenth of Luke that the Lord was criticized for healing an infirm woman on the Sabbath. He responded by pointing out that if it were proper to water an ox on the Sabbath, it was certainly proper to heal someone on the Sabbath. Remembering that physical healing of the Lord was a figure of the far more important spiritual healing, if there is any mundane business that seems necessary to accomplish today or any day, it is surely not as important as seeking reconciliation with the Lord on His terms. As Paul the apostle at Second Corinthians Six remembered the prophet Isaiah nearly eight centuries before him, “..now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
