Daily Lift – October 14, 2015

And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman (Ruth 3:11).

Naomi tells Ruth, her daughter-in-law, what she should do to ensure she will find a mate to marry in order to be taken care of in the future.

Boaz says that Ruth has indeed been virtuous and has gone through the correct and moral channels for her future husband to be selected. Through the great love of Boaz and God’s providence, Boaz is allowed to marry Ruth, provide for her, and give her a son, Obed, who would become the grandfather of David, God’s mighty king.

One final thought must be given to this beautiful text. Should it not be the goal of every Christian young lady and woman to so live and conduct themselves so well before others that it could be said of them as it was said of Ruth, “for all of the people of my town know that you are a virtuous woman.”
