In the context, Paul is dealing with the subject of eating food that would be objectionable to Jewish Christians but likely not a problem for Gentile Christians to eat. Paul states that if any Christian allows this practice to become a problem of faith for another Christian, they need to look at “their love” or the lack thereof, they have shown to another.
We must be considerate of another who differs with us on a matter of opinion. Your pursuit, as Paul states, is to look for ways to make and have peace with someone that might disagree with you. Your goal is to edify (build up) that person and encourage them as you live with them in this world. A sincere Christian will want to do all within his power, Romans 12:18, to promote peace and encouragement in all they do for and toward others.
