And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things (Mark 6:34).
How thankful Christians should be that the Lord Jesus Christ is our Shepherd! In John 10, John quotes Jesus, “I am the good shepherd” (vs. 11, 14). My heart aches for the teeming millions of people, who through obstinate rebellion to God, or neglect of their spiritual needs, do not have the Lord Jesus as their shepherd!
It is Jesus’ will that people come to Him and receive salvation. In Matthew 11:28, Jesus gave this invitation: “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
We must realize that Jesus alone is “the door” to the sheepfold (John 10:7-9). It is Jesus who willingly died on the cross “for the sheep” (v. 11). And it is only “in Him” that souls can be saved (Romans 5:8-11; 8:1). He is “the WAY” and there is no other (John 14:6)!
