And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight (1 John 3:22).
The apostle John speaks throughout this letter about having assurances (“know” is used 22 times).
Near the end of those assurances, in chapter 3, we find another fact in which the Christian finds great encouragement and hope. Our prayers are heard and answered.
There are regulations regarding prayer found in other passages, but in this verse, great assurance is given that our Father hears our prayers “because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.” This truly emboldens the Christian. Faithful living has its perks!
