A Mustard Seed
Take a sharpened pencil and touch its point to paper. The resulting tiny dot approximates the size of a mustard seed. Though it is so small, the mustard seed grows to be a plant large enough for birds to lodge in its branches. The Savior used the mustard seed to illustrate the Kingdom of Heaven. It is the faithful of the Church who will occupy the Heavenly City, and, though their number is relatively small in any single generation, their total as living and dead increases with the passing of the years. Not only so, but the impact of these in the world is the preservative salt that prevents humanity from coming to self-destruction. The Kingdom of Heaven, indeed, is likened unto a mustard seed.
