If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey (Numbers 14:8).
There is no doubt that God wants the best for His people, regardless of the “age” in which he lives. In the context, God had commanded a man from each of the twelve tribes to go into the land of Canaan to view that land. The men came back and affirmed that the land was exactly as God had described, a country so beautiful and appealing that it was as a land “that flowed with milk and honey” (Numbers 13:27).
Ten of the men doubted the Israelites’ ability to conquer the land. Joshua and Caleb declared that “if God does delight in us (and He has shown us mightily that He does), then He will lead us into that land that He has promised to give us” (all the way back to Abraham’s day).
The goal of all of God’s people is to so live and obey His commands so He will delight in us and give us heaven at the end of this life.
