This is the Record –

An attorney in court, anxious to convince the judge and jury of the primary points of his case, may be heard to exclaim, “Let the record show. .. ” so it seems with the apostle John at First John Chapter Five. At verse Eleven, he asserts, “This is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life. . .” John I s plural pronoun “us” refers to himself and all those redeemed in Christ. For that reason, John’s second point is as important as the first; “. . .this life is in His Son. ” It logically follows, then, that all who have the Son of God have spiritual life, while those who have not the Son of God have not life, either. At the Fourteenth of John’s Gospel, the Savior identified Himself as the way, truth, and life, and further stated that no one could come to God except through Him.  Because spiritual life is only in Christ, it is important to know by what manner the Lord has decreed that persons come to be in Christ. The Sixth of Romans, verse Three, and the Third of Galatians, verse Twenty Seven, both state with equal clarity that baptism puts one into Christ, in Whom there is life.
