Though God warned Adam and Eve that death would result should they eat of a forbidden fruit, we notice with interest that they physically survived the disobedience. As Eve was foolish to believe Satan, who claimed God had lied about the fruit, we would be foolish also to suppose that God had either lied or simply granted a reprieve. Paul wrote at First Corinthians Fifteen that in Adam all men did indeed die; that is, a spiritual death. However, in Christ, all are made alive. Paul also wrote at Second Timothy One that Christ abolished death; yet, we know even the most righteous of men have finite physical lifespans. It is the eternal life and immortality of the spirit of man that has been brought to light through the Gospel.
