But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night (Psalm 1:2).

Psalm 1:1 begins with the word “blessed.” Being blessed involves a state wherein a man is happy and his soul is right with his Lord, a position that most desire. There is no secret to obtaining happiness. The inspired poet reveals it to us. Blessedness comes as one delights in God’s Word and meditates therein continually.
The word “delight” is filled with meaning. It involves one’s longing for the Word of God. It means that he finds deep pleasure in the content of its message.
His understanding of the Law’s value causes him to meditate in it day and night. His mind is constantly pondering its truths. His thoughts are filled with its precious promises. He ruminates on its exciting stories and characters.
Delight yourself, my friend, in God’s Word. Meditate in it day and night. Find happiness!
