Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many (Matthew 20:28).
Too many people in the world today must think that the word “service” is spelled “serve us.” Society trains us from an early age that we should be served, but Jesus wants us to follow His example and look for opportunities to serve others.
Two verses earlier, Jesus told His apostles (and us) the greatest thing that one can do is to serve someone in some way. Are you not glad Jesus has served your needs? Then take that thought and serve someone else’s needs in His name. Today, be on the lookout to help someone. See the need, then see to the need. There is much satisfaction in service.
