Blessed in Like Kind
At the Sixth of Jeremiah, God warned that lack of shame for sin would result in the fall and casting down of a people. In order to avoid such a calamity, the Lord called upon the guilty to stand in the ways and see; that is, compare their present plight and its consequences to the promises of the old paths in which they once followed God. If they would choose the latter, God through the prophet promised them rest for their souls. Unfortunately, they refused the Lord’s call to the old paths. As an earlier Israelite people trekked forty years in the wilderness, God pointed out at Deuteronomy Twenty-Nine that neither their clothes nor their shoes waxed old upon them. Any people who walks the path in which God leads will be blessed in like kind.
