Love a Risen Savior
At the Fourteenth of Luke’s Gospel, the Savior used the building of a tower and the declaring of war to illustrate the preparing of one’s self to follow the Lord. As the builder must ensure that he has adequate resources to finish the tower, he who would follow Jesus must consider whether he loves the Lord more than objects of earthly affection. As a king must determine whether he is prepared to wage war, he who would come to Jesus must consider whether he is ready to give top priority to fidelity to the Master. The tower we must build is that of serving the Lord in love, and the war we must fight is against the love of the carnal world that we might instead love a risen Savior.
