Unpayable Debt
At the Sixth of Proverbs, Solomon observed that a thief is not despised if he steals to satisfy his hunger when he is starving. Though some may tend to excuse theft under such circumstances, the Lord did not seem to make such exceptions. Solomon continued to observe that, if the thief was caught, he would repay sevenfold, though it cost him everything he had. If the thief continued to steal to not only repay sevenfold for his previous thefts, but also to sustain himself, his debt would quickly become unpayable and unmanageable. The further one travels down any forbidden highway, the further he has to come to get back. It is worth the journey, however, to have the Savior satisfy for us the unpayable debt.
