Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous (1 Peter 3:8).
Unity among believers is a great challenge we face. The Lord’s poignant prayer links the world’s belief in Him as being sent from God to His followers being one as He and the Father are one (John 17:20-21). Peter sets forth four vital steps for how we can promote unity:
“Be ye all of one mind.” Humbly accepting the authority of Jesus Christ is an essential step in that direction. His teachings are found in the New Testament.
“Have compassion one of another.” Compassion is used eight times in connection with Jesus’ personal ministry. Our Lord cared and He demonstrated
it. Should we not care for one another?
“Love as brethren.” Love one another as brothers.
“Be pitiful, be courteous.” Be humble and kind (Ephesians 4:31-32). Accept the challenge.
