Praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved (Acts 2:47).
This verse comes from the birthday of the church. Praising God continues among these people until the trumpet blows. “Having favor with all the people,” however, was very short-lived. What ultimately mattered is that people had it in their power to meet God’s criteria to enter His family. They repented of their sins and were immersed for the forgiveness of those sins.
The little article “the” is forever critical in this verse. These folks were not merely added to a church, but to THE church. There is only one body (Ephesians 4:4), the church (1:22-23).
Oh that all would leave the denominations created by men and be added to the
church – the church to which only the One who died on Calvary can add you.
