We Must Be Saved

At the Second of Philippians, Paul the apostle wrote that God had highly exalted Jesus Christ and given Him a Name which is above every name: that at the Name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in Heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. The passage not only indicates the magnificence of the Savior, but His authority as well. It is the latter to which Paul referred at the Third of Colossians, where he admonished that all done in word or deed was to be in the Name of the Lord Jesus. This principle applies not only with regard to every aspect of the practice of Christianity but also what is required to become a Christian at all. As Peter declared at the Fourth of Acts, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under Heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.”
