Stronger and Wiser than Man
While the inhabitants of Corinth were largely pagans and idolaters, Christianity was there considered to be a religion for the unsophisticated and unlearned. At First Corinthians One, Paul acknowledged that the preaching of the cross of Christ had been considered foolishness, and, for that reason, not many regarded as wise among the Corinthians had responded to it. However, what had been thought to be foolishness among the Corinthians was in fact the power of God to save those that would believe it. Further, Divine wisdom would prove to confound the foolishness that disbelievers of the Gospel only thought to be wisdom. If it were possible for God to be either weak or foolish, He would still be stronger and wiser than man.
