The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved (Jeremiah 8:20).

Opportunities abound – but only for a while! And, after they’re gone – they’re gone! That is the lesson that Jeremiah was trying to impress upon Judah, while in the dark throes of captivity.

There was a time for change. There was a time for repentance. There was a time for salvation. But, that time was now “past” and “ended.” The dreadful realization of their doom was now seizing their hearts – “We are not saved!” If only they had seized those opportunities while still within reach!

One day, our harvest will have passed. One day, our summer will have ended. What are we doing with the opportunities before us right now?
