The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished (2 Peter 2:9).
These inspired words from Peter remind us of what Paul said in 1 Corinthians 10:13. God promised there to make for us a way to escape temptation.
Peter’s teaching is a little different. His subject is deliverance for the godly and punishment for the unjust. Sometimes in life we wonder how it is that the “bad guys” seem to win. But they will not win in the end.
God’s judgment is certain and it is sure. Those who walk according to the flesh will deserve their punishment. Just so, the godly person, the faithful Christian, can be sure of their deliverance.
