For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee (Psalm 86:5).

We could never fully described the goodness and glory of our God. However, this did not stop the Psalmist from listing three things about the Lord that brought him great joy. (1) He is good. Jesus declared that He alone is good (Matthew 19:17), and James added that every good gift is from Him (James 1:17). (2) He is ready to forgive. How many people do we know who simply do not want to forgive? God is known as the God of forgiveness. There must be a seeking of forgiveness on my part before there is the giving of forgiveness on His. (3) He is plenteous in mercy. God is always able to give to us that which we need. He is rich in mercy (Ephesians 2:4) and He is just as generous in pouring out His mercy upon us.
