And Micaiah said, As the LORD liveth, what the LORD saith unto me, that will I speak (1 Kings 22:14).
After the city of Ramoth-Gilead fell into the
hands of the Syrians, King Ahab wanted
it back and asked Jehoshaphat to help him.
Jehoshaphat evidently suspected something
wasn’t right because he asks for a prophet of
Yahweh, not Ahab’s prophets, to inquire of him.
King Ahab states that there is one that can help
with an inquiry of Jehovah but I hate him (1
Kings 22:8). A messenger was sent to Micaiah
to get a good message from the God of the
heavens. This verse is the reply to this scenario.
Ahab wanted a “yes” man to be on his side. It is
possible that Micaiah could have given a good
message but he knew that God’s words were
best. Don’t be a “yes” man but be God’s man.
