Daily Lift – April 19, 2016

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1).

The active faith demonstrated in the example of Abraham and perfected by the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus in Romans 4 is shown in the outset of Romans 5 as a justifying faith. Paul will go on to say that “we,” Christians, are “now justified by his blood, [and] shall be saved from wrath through him” (Romans 5:9).

Why is that the case; how is that possible?

It is possible, because in that justification, justice itself is pacified. David said of the Lord, “Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face” (Psalm 89:14). For the Christian, all of the attributes of God are realized in and through Christ Jesus!
