Daily Lift – April 20, 2016

When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple (Jonah 2:7).

Every child of God runs the risk of fainting (Hebrews 12:3). When he takes his eyes off the Lord, he is in danger of figuratively sinking in the same manner that Peter literally did (Matthew 14:30).

How does the child of God overcome the threat? By remembering the Lord. When one remembers that the Lord is present (Matthew 28:20), he can have the presence of mind to reach out to the Lord – who is likewise stretching forth His hand (Matthew 14:31).

How does the child of God reach out to the Lord? By praying to the Lord and letting his need ascend to the “holy temple.”
