And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call (Joel 2:32).

The promise of salvation and deliverance excites the senses of any who are oppressed and in bondage, but the promise of a deliverance that is founded in the faithfulness, power, and promises of Jehovah God turns the world upside down (Acts 17:6)!

It is “in mount Zion and in Jerusalem,” i.e., the church, the spiritual dwelling place of God, that our deliverance from the bondage of sin is found. To obtain this great deliverance we need simply to “call upon the name of the LORD,” an idiom used by inspired writers meaning “to obey the will and commandments of God.”

How exciting the thought! How wonderful a promise! How obtainable the gift!
