Who Will, and Who Does?
Immediately prior to His ascension, the Savior instructed His apostles at the Twenty-Eighth of Matthew’s Gospel to teach and make disciples of all nations. It is clear what one of the early stages of obedience to the Gospel would be, for the apostles were commanded to baptize the believers in the name of the Father, Son, and Spirit. Yet, their work would not then be complete, for they were to teach their audiences all things whatsoever the Lord commanded them. If the Church is today to follow the example of this directive, the Church must know and faithfully teach how to become obedient to the Gospel, and also how to remain faithful to it. If the· Church itself does not know and teach these things, then who will, and who does?
