“Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving (Colossians 2:7).
One must be planted in Christ to take root. Growth only occurs in well-rooted plants (Ephesians 3:17). Developing good roots comes through digging into the meat of God’s word to differentiate between good and evil (Hebrews 5:12-14).
The Christian’s foundation is Christ (1 Corinthians 3:10-11; Ephesians 2:20). Being built up is an ongoing process. True strength in the building can only be found through faith in Christ (1 Thessalonians 1:2-3).
Growing and becoming stronger in Christ ought to produce a life filled with thanksgiving (Colossians 3:15-17; 4:2). Our mouths will be filled with thanksgiving (Ephesians 5:4, 20).
