And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of the LORD: that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the good land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers (Deuteronomy 6:18).

George MacDonald said, “In whatever man does without God, he must fail miserably or succeed more miserably.” Israel had an awesome task ahead of them in conquering the Promised Land (Deuteronomy 6; Joshua 1). God knew the seriousness of such task and gave them directions as to how they could succeed. The plan was to do what is right and good, and let God define those two terms. Is it really that simple? Yes, after all the Lord swore it to be so.
Our promised land is Heaven. If we ever wish to have success and possession of that land, we too must do that which is right and good in the sight of the Lord.
