Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God (1 Corinthians 2:12).
The “we” does not refer to every Christian, but to Paul and the other inspired men (Ephesians 3:5). That which they received was “not the spirit of the world,” the philosophy and wisdom of men. If the message had its origin in man’s thinking, it would be of no profit to our souls. Fleshly concerns could never reveal spiritual truths.
“The spirit which is of God” was the source. Without the revelation of the Holy Spirit upon inspired men, we could never have known of the spiritual blessings freely given of God in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 1:3).
Today, it is up to us to pass this know-ledge on to others.
