Knowledge of the Truth
In His model prayer at the Sixth of Matthew, the Savior taught us to pray that we be led not into temptation. At Second Peter Two, the apostle assured us that the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation. However, Peter also cautioned that God knows how to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished. The sins of such ones included the despising of government and speaking evil of dignities. At First Timothy Two, Paul the apostle taught that prayer should be offered for all those in authority in order that we might live a quiet and peaceable life. Paul wrote during a time when he and the church suffered persecution. Because history repeats itself, the favor of authorities may become more necessary for men to saved by coming to a knowledge of the truth.
