And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgment (1 Samuel 8:3).
Samuel was one of God’s great servants. He is mentioned in Faith’s Hall of Fame (Hebrews 11:32). His sons, however, did not follow in dad’s footsteps. Unfortunately having a good father is no guarantee the sons will be good too.
Is your father a good man like Samuel? Did he share with you by word and example the wisdom and fear of the Lord which is the beginning of knowledge (Proverbs 1–9)? If so, say a prayer of thanks and let good ole dad know you appreciate him.
