Daily Lift – June 24th, 2018

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live (John 11:25).

Man has several fears. One is death. Death is a powerful enemy. No man can defeat it. It always takes life. It can come suddenly. It can come after long periods of pain and illness. It always leaves behind a trail of sorrow and loneliness. For the disciples of Christ, however, Jesus offers words of comfort and hope in today’s verse. “…he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”

Hope is possible because Jesus is the resurrection and the life. The word “resurrection” means “to stand again.” All who have been laid in the grave shall one day live again. Death is not the end. How? Because Jesus conquered death, the grave, when He arose early on the first day of the week following His crucifixion. He stands and lives and so shall we.
