After the forty years of wandering, the generation which grew up in the wilderness was instructed to not “forget the Lord your God” and pursue idols or they would be destroyed (Deuteronomy 11:20).
Baal worship was introduced during the reign of Ahad and we might suppose we are far removed from idolatrous worship but we would be mistaken.
When we elevate selfish needs and entertainment above the response of a thankful heart to the God of heaven we have allowed our hearts to be deceived.
