Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments (Genesis 35:2).
Here is a proposal for preparation that we can use today. “Put away” strange thoughts, strange desires, strange purposes, strange practices. In other words, self-devotion first, then a concern for all whom we can influence.
In exercising the above, we will grow stronger and robust allowing our Christianity to always be active. Do not pitch your tent where the soil is impregnated with the products of corruption.
Get on your knees, search out the strange gods in your life and bury them.
