Daily Lift – March 1, 2015

Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity  (1 Timothy 4:12).

Chronological age does not necessarily bring spiritual maturity. We read in Hebrews about some people who had been Christians for a while, but had not matured (Hebrews 5:11-14). 1 Timothy 4:12, directed at a younger man, shows us that God expects young people to be obedient to Him.

True spiritual progress is marked by godly conduct and love. Young and old alike should exemplify Christ in every aspect of their lives – in speech, lifestyle, love, obedience, faithfulness, and holiness.

Today, examine yourself. If others followed your lead in the six areas listed in the verse, would they be more or less like Jesus?
