Daily Lift – March 10th, 2018

That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God (Colossians 1:10).

Christianity is not a stationary religion.
Scriptures frequently employ action verbs
like “Go” “follow” “walk” when speaking of the
life of a Christian. When we are told to “walk”
the implication is that we are to be moving,
and specifically moving forward, growing. How
do we walk worthy? By being fruitful in every
good work and by increasing in the knowledge
of God. How do we do these things? By adding
Christian virtues (2 Peter 1:5-8). Perhaps the
simplest explanation is one of the briefest, “But
grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord
and Saviour Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18). Growth
requires daily attention. Growth requires time and
growth requires effort. Those who put forth the
effort demonstrate their worthiness in their walk.
