Daily Lift – March 11th, 2018

And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God (Luke 9:62).

Jesus knew how to talk straight, didn’t He?
When describing the life of following
Him (Luke 9:62), Jesus likened it to a person
“having put his hand to the plow”. Plowing was
hard work, requiring long hours and tough
determination.

Hard work often lends itself to making excuses:
“Well, I will do that, but let me first go and do
this other thing” (9:59-61). Truly following the
Lord requires hard work, long hours, tough
determination and uncompromisingly “fixing
our eyes on Jesus” (Hebrews 12:2, NASB).

Let us dispense with all excuses and sing, “I
want to be a worker for the Lord…and be busy
every day!”
