Daily Lift – March 9, 2015

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life (John 8:12).

The Hebrew writer says that Jesus was the “brightness of God’s glory” (Hebrews 1:3). Jesus is the greatest example of an individual that has shined past the barrier of time and society. In a brief study of the life of Christ we find that He was “in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15).

The Lord’s challenge in Matthew 5:14-16 is to be the hope for the world. This means that we are living the life of Christ as our own lives. Consider what light can do. Light eliminates darkness, exposes the darkness, exposes evil, and shows the way out of darkness. The key is to follow the life of Christ and be a light in a dark world.
