Drive Him Away
The Eighth of Matthew’s Gospel records two individuals who were possessed with devils. That some were willing participants with satanic power is evidenced by the sorcerers of Pharaoh at the Seventh of Exodus. At Exodus Twenty-Two, the Mosaic Law placed the penalty of death upon those of similar pursuit and practice. We are assured of the Savior’s superior power over such, for He cast out out evil spirits and gave His apostles the ability to do the same. Satan can no longer overpower one against his will, and First Corinthians Ten promises a Divinely provided way of escape from the devil’s temptations. The Fourth of James promises that Satan will flee when resisted. Divine power has often cast him out. Submission to Divine authority will overcome him and drive him away.
