In the process of balancing your check book, you may have found your figures and those of the bank to disagree. If, after due diligence, your calculations and those of the bank do at last agree, what has taken place is a reconciliation. one of the word’s definitions is “to bring into harmony or agreement.” In man’s relationship with God, it is sin that has alienated man from God and thus created the need for reconciliation. Such is made possible by Jesus Christ, for Paul wrote at the Fifth of Romans that we are reconciled unto God by the death of His Son and saved by His life. He Whom the Hebrews writer described as the brightness of the glory of God has made possible the harmonizing of humanity with God. In one of the Savior’s most remembered remarks at the Fourteenth of John, He said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man cometh unto the Father but by Me.”
