Who is This King of Glory?

If you were going to describe God to someone, how would you start? Where would you start? Psalm 24 starts at the beginning of time. David asks, “Who is this King of Glory?” First, the King of glory is the Creator of all things (Psa. 24:1-2). All things have been created by the eternal Word, Jesus Christ. Second, the King of glory is the One who is served by a pure people (Psa. 24:3-6). When we obey the pattern set forth by Christ (Rom. 6:3-9), we will be freed from sin and be able to stand before the Lord as His pure people. Third, the King of glory is the Lord mighty in battle (Psa. 24:7-8). How comforting it is to know that as we fight a spiritual war, the Lord mighty in battle is with us. Finally, the King of glory is the Lord of hosts (Psa. 24:9-10). One day the Lord of hosts is coming back to claim His own (2 Thess. 1:7-10) – will we be ready?
